Oil Spill Contingency Plan

April 18, 2025, 8 a.m. - May 18, 2025, 11:59 p.m. PT

We invite interested members of the public, local, and tribal governments to review and comment on required 5-year updates to industry-written oil spill contingency plans.

The following plan is now available for public review:

Background

Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 173-182 requires oil-handling facilities, pipelines, and vessels to have a state-approved oil spill contingency plan that ensures their ability to respond to major oil spills. These updates are required by the state’s oil spill planning regulations.

Visit our website to see a list of approved contingency plans.

See the checklist Ecology uses to review these plans.
