C L Auto Repair cleanup, Seattle
Comment on legal agreement and public participation plan
Oct. 7, 2024, 12 a.m. - Nov. 7, 2024, 11:59 p.m.
A legal agreement requiring site cleanup and a plan that explains how people can participate in the process are ready for review.
We are overseeing work at the C L Auto Repair cleanup site in the Othello neighborhood. Community Roots Housing and HomeSight, two non-profits based in Seattle, are doing the cleanup. Ecology is providing cleanup funding through our affordable housing work. This program ensures sites are cleaned up properly while promoting community engagement and ensuring clean affordable housing in the process.
We would like your comments on the following documents:
- Prospective Purchaser Consent Decree (PPCD): a legal agreement that directs the purchasers to implement cleanup at the site and provides them a settlement of liability.
- Public Participation Plan: a document that explains how people can participate in the cleanup process.
Prior investigations have confirmed the presence of contaminants in the soil and groundwater of the site. These contaminants include gasoline-range, diesel, and oil-range petroleum hydrocarbons, as well as other toxic contaminants related to previous industries at the site.
