Eastside Fire & Rescue headquarters property cleanup site
Open House—In-person & Online
Nov. 5, 2025, 5 p.m. PT, Issaquah, WA
Drop in during a two-hour open house to learn more about this cleanup site and speak with staff from the City of Issaquah, Eastside Fire & Rescue, and Ecology. While no formal presentation is planned, handouts and visuals will be available.
We are planning an interim action (early partial cleanup) at the Eastside Fire & Rescue Headquarters property, which is part of the Eastside Fire & Rescue Headquarters and Issaquah Valley Elementary School (EFR HQ IVES) cleanup site in Issaquah. Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were released to the soil and groundwater from firefighting foam, formerly used during lawful training activities. These contaminants are present at levels that exceed state standards.
Soil and groundwater contaminated with PFAS have impacted two drinking water systems, the City of Issaquah and the Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District. Both continue to meet safe drinking water levels.
We are currently asking for public comments on an Interim Action Work Plan and a State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Determination of Non-Significance.
