Granite Falls SMP: Periodic review

Public comment requested Feb. 1 to March 4, 2019, at 5 p.m.

Granite Falls and Ecology are seeking public comment on the city's periodic review and proposed update to its Shoreline Master Program (SMP).

Proposed amendments to the Granite Falls SMP are limited to changes to the Shoreline Management Act and our rules since the master program was last updated in 2010. In addition, a recent amendment to the city's Critical Areas Ordinance will also be incorporated into the SMP.

We will compare the city's proposed amendment to the requirements of the Shoreline Management Act and the Shoreline Master Program Guidelines. Based on the comparison we will decide whether to:

  • Approve the program as is.
  • Approve with recommended changes.
  • Send the proposed program back to the City of Granite Falls with required changes to meet statutory and rule requirements. Recommended changes may also be included with the required changes.
