Watershed plan archive

We are providing an archive of documents developed through the 1997 Watershed Planning Act (Chapter 90.82 RCW). These documents can support the work of watershed-based groups that are updating or developing plans as required by a recent law, Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 6091

The available documents may include:

  • Watershed management plans
  • Detailed implementation plans
  • Supporting documents

Where possible, we provide links to local governments that may have related information.

We are currently focusing on watersheds that have to update existing watershed plans by 2021. Additional documents will be added soon. Please contact us if you have questions.

History of watershed planning

The Watershed Planning Act was established by the Legislature in 1997 to set a framework for developing local solutions to watershed issues in Washington. Between 1998 and 2012, 44 watershed-based planning groups developed plans and 33 groups adopted their plans. As planning was completed, the effort switched focus to watershed management. A few of these watershed groups continue to implement priority actions from their plans.
