Local solid waste financial assistance program grants
The Local Solid Waste Financial Assistance program provides funding to local governments for solid and hazardous waste planning and implementation, as well as enforcement of solid waste rules and regulations.
Funding cycle
- Amount of funding available: $24 million
- Grant award limit: Formula-based allocation
- Amount of matching funds required: 25 percent
Applications are not being accepted at this time.
Funding is available for the following entities:
Solid waste enforcement:
- Jurisdictional health departments (JHDs)
Planning and implementation:
- Identified primary local governments
- Identified independent cities
- Partnering local governments (PLGs), including:
- PLGs required to adopt the local hazardous waste plan.
- JHDs performing P&I work.
Solid waste enforcement:
- Enforcement of local solid waste rules and regulations
- Special programs:
- Homeless Encampment Cleanup
- Syringe Collection Program
Planning and implementation:
- Local solid and hazardous waste plan development and maintenance
- Local solid and hazardous waste plan implementation
- Moderate risk waste
- Waste reduction and recycling
- Organics
