Ecology is conducting rulemaking to amend five chapters of instream resource protection rules and hosting an informal comment period during the development phase of the rulemaking.

Background
We write rules to implement and enforce state and federal environmental laws and rules. Ecology follows a three-phase process for rulemaking:
- Announcement and development
- Proposal
- Adoption
