Local solid waste financial assistance program grants

The Local Solid Waste Financial Assistance program provides funding to local governments for solid and hazardous waste planning and implementation, as well as enforcement of solid waste rules and regulations.

Eligible local governments — typically counties, cities, or jurisdictional health departments

  • Enforce solid waste rules and regulations
  • Develop and maintain local solid and hazardous waste plans
  • Implement eligible programs in local solid and hazard waste plans, including:
    • Moderate risk waste
    • Waste reduction and recycling
    • Organics
