Investing in cleaner transportation

Washington is investing in projects to reduce emissions from transportation, improve air quality and public health, and prioritize projects that benefit air quality in areas disproportionately impacted by air pollution. We are incentivizing projects that support the transition to a zero-emission transportation system in Washington.

VW settlement plan

We are distributing $141 million from the VW settlements to reduce air pollution and support zero-emission transportation.

VW settlement projects

To date, we have committed $91 million statewide to support projects that reduce toxic diesel and greenhouse gas emissions.

Reducing diesel emissions

We provide Clean Diesel grants to help fleet managers replace old engines, reduce idling, and use cleaner fuels.

Improving air quality & health

We are investing funds in transportation projects to protect public health and air quality from harmful pollutants.
