Pollution prevention services for businesses
Businesses in Washington can take advantage of our pollution prevention technical assistance services. Our services are non-enforcement, hands-on, technical assistance (in-person, or by phone or email). Our teams can help you learn and apply pollution prevention (P2) best practices:
- Reduce waste and pollution at the source.
- Improve efficiency.
- Switch to safer products.
By doing so, businesses can often reduce costs and save money in the long run. Our teams help dangerous waste generators based on their generator category:
- Small quantity generators (SQGs).
- Medium quantity (MQGs) and large quantity generators (LQGs).
Pollution Prevention Assistance (PPA) for SQGs
Our Pollution Prevention Assistance (PPA) program partners with local city and county organizations to provide pollution prevention assistance to SQGs through local specialists. PPA and our local partners help SQGs:
- Develop and implement pollution prevention solutions.
- Discuss or learn more about the Dangerous Waste Regulations (Chapter 173-303 WAC).
- Learn more about the unique benefits of being a small quantity generator (SQG).
Pollution prevention assistance for MQGs and LQGs
Our Pollution Prevention Technical Assistance Team can help medium or large quantity generators:
- Develop and implement pollution prevention or other waste reduction solutions.
- Work on Pollution Prevention (P2) plans.
- Discuss or learn more about the Dangerous Waste Regulations (Chapter 173-303 WAC).
Apply for a P2 grant
Pollution prevention (P2) grants are federally funded grants awarded by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). While the grants are awarded to state agencies, P2 grants allow us to partner with and fund P2 projects in cooperation with those that cannot apply directly on their own, such as businesses, nonprofits, local and Tribal governments, and others.
