Product Replacement Program
The Product Replacement Program provides financial support for small businesses and community organizations to help protect employees, customers, and the environment from toxic chemicals in everyday products. Thanks to funding through the Washington Legislature, we are replacing some of the most toxic products with safer options before they become a much bigger and more costly problem. We help by:
- Offering reimbursement funding to switch to safer products.
- Safely collecting and disposing of old products and materials.
- Educating small businesses on best practices for managing toxic products.

What businesses have already participated?
Over 370 businesses have benefitted from the product replacement program:
- Over 175 auto shops have replaced solvent-based auto degreasers with safer products.
- Over 90 dry cleaners replaced their perchloroethylene (PERC) equipment.
- Over 90 fire departments plan to participate in the AFFF disposal program.
- 7 Airports across Washington participated in our input-based test box program to reduce AFFF.
How did the Product Replacement Program start?
The Washington Legislature provided funding for this program to help businesses that wish to transition away from toxic chemicals. Businesses that wish to make their operations greener and more sustainable often cannot due to cost barriers.
Through our experience and relationships with Washington businesses, we can help many of them achieve their goals of supporting healthier workplaces for their employees and the environment through this program.
