Small sources of air pollution must report their emissions. Check with your local clean air agency for specific requirements.

Collecting emissions data

Small sources regulated by Ecology must send their emissions data to us. We collect emissions data through the Source Management System (SMS) to find out how much pollution is in the air and to track the data.

Sign up for a Secure Access Washington (SAW) account. (Skip this step if you already have a business SAW account.)
Fill out the form:
- First and last name
- Email address
- User name
- Password
Check the email address you listed for an email confirmation of your new SAW account.
Click on the link in the email to confirm your account.

Log in to SecureAccess Washington (SAW).
Add Air Quality Portal to your SAW account:
- Click “add a new service."
- Click “I would like to browse a list of services.”
- Scroll down and click “Department of Ecology” in the "add a new service" list.
- Scroll to “Air Quality Application Portal” and click “apply."
- NOTE: If your service for Air Quality Portal says "pending" instead of "active:"
  - Click "cancel."
  - Click "add a new service."
  - Click “I would like to browse a list of services.”
  - Scroll down and click “Department of Ecology” in the "add a new service" list.
  - Scroll to “Air Quality Application Portal” and click “apply."
- Click "ok" at the "registration complete" message.
- In your service list, click "Air Quality Application Portal."
  (If you are viewing this page on a smaller screen, click on the green "access" button.)
- Click "continue" on the "now accessing" page to enter the Air Quality Application Portal.
- Fill out the form (new users):
  - First and last name
  - Mailing address
  - Phone
  - Email address
  - Click "yes" or "no" if your address is outside the United States.
  - Click "submit."
- Click “Air Quality Application Portal." You can access multiple Ecology Air Quality applications through the portal.
Add Source Management System (SMS) to the Air Quality Application Portal:
- Click "add" next to Source Management System.

Log in to SecureAccess Washington (SAW).
Click “Air Quality Application Portal." You can access multiple Ecology Air Quality applications through the portal.
Click "Source Management System."
In SMS:
- Add your business (add a source).
- View and update your business contact information.
- Submit your air emissions data.
