What's next - site cleanup work
Rayonier submitted the draft Interim Action Plan for the study area in 2021, called Volume 4. We are reviewing the draft plan, selecting proposed final remedies, and preparing a draft plan for public review. That draft will have plans for cleaning up soil, sediment, and groundwater in teh study area.
We will negotiate a formal legal agreement with Rayonier that commits them to completing cleanup. When the draft interim action plan for the study area and the legal agreement are ready for public review, we will make them available for public comments.
Rayonier will be removing the dock and jetty in the area leased by Rayonier from Washington Department of Natural Resources. The removal of these structures will be coordinated with the cleanup of contaminated sediment.
