July 18 blog – You can tell a lot about a stream by looking at its bugs. When you see a variety of them living in the muck of a streambed, foraging on leaf litter and even-smaller critters, that’s a strong indicator that a stream is healthy.
Lakehaven Water and Sewer District settles penalty for sewage spills
July 11 news release – The Lakehaven Water and Sewer District has paid $40,000 to resolve violations of its water quality permit as part of a settlement agreement with Ecology.
Eastern Washington program to support farms and clean water is an award-winner
July 10 blog – Ecology partnered with Spokane Conservation District, Pacific Northwest Direct Seed Association, and agricultural landowners in Eastern Washington to seek water solutions that support water quality and producers. The partnership recently received a national award for exemplifying creative solutions in supporting sustainable agriculture.
Linkage update – Laying the groundwork for connecting carbon markets
July 9 blog – The soonest we can reasonably expect to have a linkage agreement, formalizing a shared carbon market, is late 2025. It could happen later than that, but we’re doing everything necessary on our end to lay the groundwork.

Cleaning up: Sampling and dredging in I & J Waterway begins this summer
