Applying for laboratory accreditation
For first-time applicants
Our accreditation team helps large and small laboratories to become successful environmental laboratories doing work in and/or for Washington state. Accreditation ensures that laboratories can accurately and reliably perform analytical methods needed to uphold the Clean Water Act, the Clean Drinking Water Act, and/or the RCRA dangerous waste regulations.
These pages offer guidance for first-time applicants, including how to reach the primary auditor assigned to your lab. If you are working for an already accredited laboratory, see our information on preparing for your renewal.
Steps to accreditation
Steps for applying and maintaining accreditation are detailed in the Procedure Manual for the Environmental Laboratory Accreditation program.
