Have an idea for reducing waste or pollution in your neighborhood? The latest application round of the Public Participation Grants program is about to begin! Every two years, we award grants to nonprofit organizations and individuals to increase public involvement in cleaning up contamination and reducing solid and hazardous waste.
Public Participation Grants are worth up to $60,000 each year for up to two years, for a maximum amount of $120,000. Eligible projects include those that:
- Reduce waste and pollution.
- Increase recycling, green business, and composting.
- Engage the public in formal cleanup decisions.
We’ll accept applications from mid-April through mid-May. We’ll make offers to successful applicants in June, and projects can begin as soon as July 1. We’ll announce specific dates soon; sign up for the Public Participation Grants mailing list to receive notifications.
Grant recipient Methow Recycles in Twisp encourages reuse of building materials, offers a free repair service, and hosts a community tool library.
