2025 Washington Brownfields Conference – Day One

Workshops, sessions, tour, and networking

May 20, 2025, 11:30 a.m. PT, Yakima, WA

Join community leaders and brownfield professionals at this two-day conference. Get strategies for redeveloping vacant or underutilized properties that may be contaminated, and learn how to turn them into gems like affordable housing, retail, and parks.

Two days: You can register for May 20, May 21, or both. See the conference schedule for specific times.

Content is geared for local governments, Tribes, nonprofits, and community organizationsas well as private sector entities such as real estate developers and environmental consultantswho want to clean up and redevelop brownfields for the public's benefit. Network with peers and learn basic and advanced information about brownfields including funding and technical resources, how to navigate cleanups and redevelopment, case studies, success stories, and lessons learned. 

Day One –Tuesday, May 20: Pre-conference workshops

  • 11:30 a.m. Check-in

  • 12–3 p.m. Choose from three workshops:

    • Brownfield basics for people brand-new to redevelopment

    • Content for Tribal representatives

    • Advanced brownfields

  • 3–5:30 p.m. Tour

  • 5:30–7 p.m. Welcome reception

Day Two – Wednesday, May 21: Conference

$125 to $365 per person. See May 21 agenda and register for May 21.

  • 7:30–9:45 a.m. Continental breakfast, morning keynote, exhibits, networking 

  • 9:45 a.m.–3:15 p.m. Sessions, lunch, keynote
    Sessions include navigating risk in redevelopment, cleanups in rural communities, how to analyze return on investment, how to engage communities, and why storytelling matters.

  • 3:20–4:30 p.m. Lightning round
