Eatonville SMP: Periodic Review
On May 18, 2023, we approved the Town of Eatonville’s Shoreline Master Program (SMP) periodic review.
Town of Eatonville’s updated SMP is effective June 1, 2023, 14 days after we provided notice to the town that their SMP was approved.
Eatonville comprehensively updated their SMP in June 2015. The proposed amendment is needed to comply with the statutory deadline for a periodic review of the SMP pursuant to RCW 90.58.080(4).
The SMP regulates new shoreline uses and development along four streams within the Nisqually River Watershed, including Lynch Creek, Ohop Creek, Mashel River, and Little Mashel River and their shorelands. The amendment will bring the SMP into compliance with requirements of the Shoreline Management Act, or state rules that have been added or changed since the last SMP amendment, ensure the SMP remains consistent with amended comprehensive plans and regulations, and incorporate revisions deemed necessary to reflect changed circumstances, new information, or improved data.
There were no comments received during our public comment period held Dec. 6, 2021 to Jan. 8, 2022. On Nov. 22, 2022, we provided changes to the town on their Shoreline Master Program (SMP). The required and recommended changes were based on our review of whether or not the proposed amendment complies with state laws and rules.
Mail and email notices were used to notify interested parties of the public comment period. No comments were submitted on the proposed amendment.
