Cleaning up contamination
In Washington, we've identified over 13,000 contaminated sites in need of cleanup. In the Northwest Region, there are over 3,000 identified or active sites. We make progress daily. Cleanup work at over 4,000 formerly-contaminated sites has been completed in the Northwest Region's seven counties. Learn more about our contamination cleanup work.
Cleaning up: Weldcraft Steel & Marine cleanup advances on Bellingham’s waterfront
We invite your comments on cleanup plans for the Weldcraft Steel & Marine cleanup site in Bellingham.
Beginning in the 1940s, industrial and marine operations contaminated a small corner of Squalicum Harbor, both in the water and on the land. We’re working with the Port of Bellingham to clean it up, and we invite you to comment on the cleanup action plan to address contamination of the Weldcraft Steel and Marine site.
