The Plaza Cleaners site (also called Ponders Corner) near Lakewood is contaminated as a result of legacy activities at the site. We monitor groundwater for volatile organic compounds, collecting samples every 18 months to test concentrations of tetrachloroethene (PCE) that continue to exceed the state Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) cleanup level. The groundwater data is used to help determine if this site can be removed from the Confirmed and Suspected Contaminated Sites list.
