Sumas-Blaine surficial aquifer long-term ambient groundwater monitoring
We've been studying groundwater in the Sumas-Blaine aquifer since 2009, after the aquifer was identified as one of the most severely contaminated in Washington state.
Annual ambient groundwater monitoring study
We currently sample 25 wells annually in the Sumas-Blaine area for nitrate, chloride, and bromide. This long-term study builds on earlier monitoring efforts and is designed to provide a broad-brush assessment of groundwater quality in the aquifer over time.
This study will continue as long as funding is available.
